ICE 3neo fleet size revealed: How many are already running?

The ICE 3neo represents the newest step in Germany’s high-speed evolution. But how far has the fleet expansion progressed? Before reading on, how many ICE 3neo units would you estimate are already in operation?

The ICE 3neo is a modern evolution of the ICE 3 family and plays a key role in the ongoing renewal of Germany’s long-distance fleet. As of the turn of the year, a total of 46 ICE 3neo trainsets were in service. No more recent official data has been published since then.

Compared to the ICE 4, which was introduced in parallel and focuses on high capacity and flexible configurations, the ICE 3neo emphasizes high-speed performance and international operations. While the fleet is still smaller than that of the ICE 4, its presence in the network is steadily increasing.
