OMSI 2 is actually a game that should have been replaced long ago. The technology is old, performance is often difficult, the controls feel clunky in many places and visually, modern simulators can obviously do much more. Still, many players keep returning to OMSI. And there is a clear reason for that: OMSI still feels more real to drive than many modern bus simulators.

AUXI is not a new bus, not a new map, and not a classic vehicle addon – and that is exactly why many OMSI players may have missed it so far. At the same time, the expansion is one of those tools that can make OMSI 2 more comfortable in several areas of everyday gameplay: better camera, adjustable driver’s seat, synchronized game time, more advanced weather, TTS stop announcements, AI planner, driving statistics, and developer functions. Now AUXI is moving back into stronger focus because of the upcoming Update 1.5. But what do you actually really need this tool for?

We install a new OMSI map, select our favourite bus, and want to begin driving immediately. The bus appears normally, but entering the line and route starts a mystery: “Incorrect route”, no announcements, and a destination that does not belong to the map at all. What does an inconspicuous file inside the vehicle folder have to do with this?

Quite honestly – anyone who has really played OMSI 2 has already gone through quite a few emotional phases in their virtual bus driver life. First euphoria, then a freeze, then a crash, then anger, and then somehow love again. And that is perhaps the most fascinating thing about this game: it manages to constantly annoy you and still not let go. But which situations does literally every OMSI player know?

We drive through a city centre, turn at the next junction, and reach a residential district shortly afterwards. To us, it looks like one continuous city. Technically, however, OMSI may already have loaded several separate map sections during this short journey. How do hundreds of square surfaces eventually form one complete world?

For years, one question keeps returning in the OMSI community: When will OMSI finally come to consoles? Or at least OMSI 2? The hope refuses to die – but the answer has been clear for a long time. OMSI will never be released on PlayStation or Xbox. Not later. Not eventually. Never.

Today, discussions about new city buses almost automatically involve battery power, charging speed, and range. The situation was completely different when the real Volvo 7700 Hybrid appeared at the end of the 2000s: diesel buses dominated everyday services, while electric powertrains were initially being tested through individual prototypes and small production fleets. This hybrid pioneer, which will probably be unfamiliar to many players, is now coming to OMSI 2 under the name Valiant Citybus 7700 Hybrid—but where did the real vehicle operate and what separated it from conventional city buses?

We recently reported on the electric variants of the MAN New Lion’s City for OMSI 2. However, one now-confirmed addition was missing: Vehicles powered by natural gas are also being implemented for the update. What does this mean for the size of the vehicle package?

The MAN New Lion’s City has been part of the OMSI 2 fleet since 2021 and has received several revisions during the following years. When the development of electric variants became known in November 2025, many players apparently expected a comparatively close release. More than six months later, the same question is therefore being asked repeatedly: When will we actually be able to drive the MAN Lion’s City E in OMSI?

New releases for OMSI 2 remain an event for our community even more than twelve years after the simulator launched. Berlin Line 186 now introduces a long urban bus service combining familiar Berlin buildings, very different districts, and several versions of a familiar double-decker. But what do we actually receive with the new add-on?

According to his own account, Rüdiger Hülsmann and Marcel Kuhnt were best friends for more than nine years and developed OMSI together. Their collaboration broke apart in September 2014, the partnership agreement was terminated, and Hülsmann lost his access rights to the official forum. But which reasons were actually made public at the time?

The OMSI 2 add-on Bremen-Nord received a free update a few days ago. With Patch 3.20, Bremen-Nord Modern 2026 was released and replaces the previous Modern 2024 version. Included are, among other things, changes to Line 90, new objects, an electric depot, new Chrono events, and technical adjustments. What exactly has changed with the update?
