The core of the mod is quite simple: Truck Transport Trailer – Ownable takes an already existing truck transport trailer from Euro Truck Simulator 2 and turns it into an ownable trailer that can be purchased. Instead of only seeing it as part of certain jobs, you can select it in the trailer purchase menu under Standard Trailers , add it to your fleet and then use it with suitable freight jobs.
The trailer has three axles and comes with different cargo configurations. Supported options include transporting Scania, Volvo and DAF trucks, as well as pick-ups and vans. The existing models and the game's cargo placement are used. The mod therefore does not recreate a completely new third-party trailer, but uses content that is already present in ETS 2 and makes it available for purchase by the player.
The visual effect is particularly direct: Instead of a normal refrigerated trailer, curtainsider or lowbed, a transporter suddenly hangs behind your own truck, with other trucks standing on it. That is where the mod's real appeal comes from. It is less about a completely new freight system and more about being able to own a trailer that you normally cannot have as a classic ownable trailer in your fleet.
How to buy the truck transporter in ETS 2
After activating the mod, open the Trailer Purchase and switch there to Standard Trailers. The Truck Transport Trailer will be available for selection there. You then choose the desired configuration, buy the trailer and couple it up like any other ownable trailer.
After that, look in the Cargo Market for suitable jobs. Which loads are actually offered depends on several factors, however. These include the selected trailer configuration, your current location, the available companies and, in some cases, installed DLCs.
This means that just because you bought the trailer, a job with a Scania or Volvo will not automatically appear at any time and everywhere. The Cargo Market must still generate a suitable combination of cargo, company and location.
Scania, Volvo, DAF, pick-ups and vans
The mod includes several cargo variants for different vehicle types. These include Scania, Volvo and DAF trucks as well as pick-ups and vans.
The models come from the game itself. This means they fit directly into the existing ETS 2 world visually and do not have to be loaded as additional third-party models.
For players who like travelling with their own trailer, this creates a new way to use existing content. Instead of seeing the truck transporters exclusively as part of finished game jobs, they become part of your own fleet.
Three factory colours, but no extensive tuning catalogue
The trailer is currently offered in three factory colours:
Red, blue and green.
Additional custom skins are not included. Nor are further accessories or modular wheel upgrades part of the mod at present.
That fits the current beta approach: The focus for now is on the basic function of making the trailer purchasable and using it through the Cargo Market.
So if you are expecting an extensive accessory catalogue or many individual paint jobs, you will not get that yet.
Do you need other transporter mods?
No. Truck Transport Trailer – Ownable is designed as a standalone mod.
No other truck transporter mod is required. The trailer can be activated directly and then used via the trailer purchase menu.
The only important point is not to activate a local version and the Steam Workshop version of the same mod at the same time. This could cause conflicts.
Does the trailer work with ETS 2 1.61?
At the current time, the mod has been tested with Euro Truck Simulator 2 version 1.61.1.0s in 64-bit and is intended for the 1.61.x series.
As this is a beta release, this may still change with upcoming updates. Especially with new ETS 2 versions, you should therefore check whether the Workshop entry has already been updated.
The beta status is also relevant because not every possible combination of location, company, cargo and DLC can be fully guaranteed.
Why do suitable jobs sometimes not appear?
The availability of jobs does not depend on the trailer alone.
The Cargo Market only generates jobs that match the selected trailer configuration. Location and company also play a role. In addition, installed DLCs can influence which cargoes and destinations are available at all.
So if a suitable truck transport job does not appear immediately after the purchase, that does not automatically mean that the mod is not working. It may simply be that no compatible job is currently being offered at the current location.
Switching to another region or another company can change the selection.
It is better to sell the trailer before removing the mod
Because the trailer is stored as its own vehicle in the fleet, there is one important point to consider when removing the mod.
Before the mod is deactivated or deleted, any trailer purchased with it should be sold first. A backup of the save game is also recommended.
This is generally sensible for mods with purchasable vehicles or trailers, because otherwise the save game may refer to content that is no longer present afterwards.
What the mod does not do
Truck Transport Trailer – Ownable does not add a completely new truck transport mode with its own loading and unloading animation.
The mod uses the existing cargo models and the game's existing positioning. The loaded trucks are therefore displayed through the normal cargo and trailer system.
The towing truck seen in some screenshots is also not automatically part of the mod. The same applies to individual paint jobs of the towing vehicle.
The actual content is the ownable three-axle transport trailer with the suitable cargo configurations.
A familiar trailer becomes part of your own fleet
That is precisely the difference compared with many classic trailer mods. This does not necessarily add something completely new, but instead unlocks existing game content for a use that many players have not previously had directly.
Anyone who likes buying their own trailers and prefers driving via the Cargo Market can permanently add another trailer type to their fleet. And instead of pallets, machines or containers, complete trucks will then be on the trailer.
The mod is currently still in beta. Purchasing, configuration and basic use are intended, but differences may still occur in the availability of individual jobs.
