€49.99, €64.99 or €69.99: Which CTS 2026 Vienna version do you really need?

The most important answer first: If you already own CTS 2026 and simply want to drive on the new Vienna map, you only need the Vienna Expansion for €49.99. The base game is required, but no additional vehicle DLCs are necessary for the three included routes. The expansion will be released on 13 October 2026.

The expansion includes the three realistically recreated Vienna routes 37 from Schottentor to Hohe Warte, 38 from Schottentor to Grinzing and 35A between Spittelau and Salmannsdorf. The vehicles intended for these routes are also included: ULF A and ULF B for the tram, as well as C2 Solo and C2 articulated bus in Vienna Lines livery for the 35A. So you are not just buying the map and then having to search separately for the right vehicles.

The vehicle names in particular can quickly become confusing. The CTS 2026 base game already includes ULF A1 and ULF B1 . The Vienna Expansion, on the other hand, adds the older generation, ULF A and ULF B , which has been recreated for the new routes. These are therefore not simply the same trams from the base game with a different paint scheme.

The situation is similar with the bus. The shop offers a separate Citybus C2 DLC for €19.99, which includes Solo and articulated versions of the C2, among other things. You do notneed this DLC to drive the 35A in Vienna with the vehicles intended for it. The Vienna C2 versions as Solo and articulated buses are already part of the Vienna Expansion.

Other Vienna vehicles in the CTS shop are not automatically part of the new expansion either. Flexity Vienna and E1 Vienna continue to be offered as separate DLCs. They are not part of the Vienna Expansion offered for €49.99, nor are they needed to drive its routes 37, 38 and 35A with the intended vehicles.

This makes the choice fairly simple for existing CTS players. Do you own CTS 2026 and are you mainly interested in Vienna? Then the Vienna Expansion is enough. It costs €49.99 and includes the map, all three routes, as well as the ULF and C2 variants announced for them.

In the official CTS shop, you can use our code SIMULATORENNEWS and save 5 percent. This reduces €49.99 to around €47.49.

The situation is different if you do not own CTS 2026 at all yet and want to get started specifically because of Vienna. That is what the €69.99 Vienna Edition is intended for. It includes the CTS 2026 Starter Edition and the complete Vienna content with the three routes, ULF A and B, as well as the Vienna C2 variants. So you do not first have to buy the base game and then the €49.99 expansion separately.

That leaves the €64.99 Season Pass – and it is aimed at a somewhat different group. Vienna is included in full, but you are not just buying the new map. According to the current product description, the pass includes the 2026 content, including the separate Citybus C2 DLC, the already released Tatra KT4D, the Vienna Expansion, the upcoming Flexity Graz and the Citybus C2Kas an exclusive bonus vehicle.

For someone who already owns CTS 2026 and really wants only Vienna , the Season Pass would therefore be unnecessarily larger and €15 more expensive than the individual expansion. However, anyone who also wants the other 2026 vehicles gets Vienna included through the Season Pass and does not have to buy the expansion separately as well.

One important point is: The Season Pass does not replace the base game. New players still need a CTS 2026 edition as a foundation. The Vienna Edition, on the other hand, combines the base game and Vienna directly in one package.

The Season Pass is also available in the official shop for €64.99, likewise with a 5 percent discount via SIMULATORENNEWS.

This makes the decision fairly clear: Existing players who only want Vienna need the Vienna Expansion. New players coming to CTS 2026 because of Vienna can go straight for the Vienna Edition. And anyone who wants the other 2026 DLCs in addition to Vienna should take a closer look at the Season Pass. Additional purchases of Citybus C2, Flexity Vienna or E1 Vienna are not required for the actual Vienna routes.

Which option is right for you: just the Vienna Expansion, the Season Pass, or are you starting fresh in CTS 2026 with the Vienna Edition?
