CTS 2026 Vienna for bus players: Is the expansion worthwhile with just one bus line?
The most important point first: For bus players, Vienna is not simply an additional vehicle. The complete 35A between Spittelau and Salmannsdorf has been recreated as a real route. The road layouts, intersections, stops and surroundings are based on real Vienna. The 35A runs from Spittelau via Döbling and onward to Salmannsdorf, taking it from a much more urban area increasingly toward the outskirts of Vienna.
That is the real appeal, especially compared with Tramau. You are no longer driving through a fictional city, but along a real Vienna bus line with recognizable streets and stops. ViewApp states that the entire Vienna map includes more than 1,000 realistically recreated buildings. Bus drivers along the 35A naturally benefit from this as well, even if they do not use tram lines 37 and 38 at all.
There is more than just one vehicle variant, too. In regular service, the main focus is on the 18-metre-long C2G . ViewApp specifies 37 seats and 103 standing places for it, as well as an OM-470 diesel engine producing 265 kW, or 360 hp. In addition, a 12-metre-long C2 solo bus is included. It has 28 seats and 77 standing places and is powered by an OM 936 producing 220 kW, or 300 hp. Both buses use a six-speed ZF Ecolife automatic transmission.
The fact that both variants are included has a real-world basis. The C2G handles regular service on the 35A, while the solo bus is used for night services there in real Vienna. The current Steam description specifically mentions the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday. The smaller C2 is therefore not simply an additional vehicle length, but represents a different real-world service on the same route.
ViewApp has also not simply given the already familiar C2 a Vienna livery. The Vienna versions differ, for example, in their seats, stop-request buttons, IBIS unit and dashboard controls. This version does not have a ticket printer. The electrically powered sliding plug doors have also been implemented accordingly. On the frontmost door, one door leaf even opens at a slight angle so that it does not collide with the front tyre when the wheels are turned.
Important for CTS 2026 owners: The C2 and C2G in Wiener Linien configuration are included directly with the Vienna Expansion. You do not need to purchase the separate Citybus C2 DLC as well. The official shop explicitly lists the solo and articulated buses as included content of the Vienna expansion; Steam only lists the base game as a requirement.
And yet there remains a fairly clear limitation for bus-only players. The expansion costs €49.99, even though you only get one of the three included lines as a bus line. The other two routes, 37 and 38, are intended for the ULF A and ULF B. So anyone who fundamentally does not want to drive trams is inevitably buying part of the package that they will probably hardly use.
That is why the answer depends heavily on what you expect from Vienna. If you are waiting for a large new bus network with several lines and completely different routes, you will not get that here. The bus content is concentrated on the 35A. If, on the other hand, you specifically want to drive this real Vienna line, you get two suitable vehicle variants—a solo and an articulated bus—and surroundings that differ significantly from the previous Tramau.
For this type of player, Vienna is therefore more interesting than the number “one bus line” might initially suggest. The value comes less from quantity and more from the fact that the line, city and vehicles belong together. At the same time, €49.99 should not be downplayed: If you are really only interested in buses, you must be aware that a considerable part of the expansion is devoted to the two tram lines.
The Vienna Expansion launches on October 13, 2026, for €49.99. In the official CTS Shop, you can additionally use our code SIMULATORENNEWS to save 5 percent, bringing the effective price down to €47.49 .

Would the 35A with the C2 and C2G alone be enough for you to buy Vienna, or would an expansion costing €49.99 have to offer at least one more bus line for you?
