Taking the 35A out to Salmannsdorf: This Vienna bus route is coming completely to CTS 2026!
The two tram lines 37 and 38 begin at Schottentor in the Vienna expansion, while the 35A starts in Spittelau. From there, the bus route runs to Salmannsdorf and thus forms the bus part of the new Vienna map. The route can be driven with both the C2 and the C2 articulated bus in Wiener Linien livery.
The real 35A starts directly at the Spittelau transport hub. At the next stop, Nußdorfer Straße already offers connections to the U6 as well as tram lines 37 and 38. This is followed, among others, by Weitlofgasse, Währinger Park, Hardtgasse and Gatterburggasse. At Hardtgasse and Gatterburggasse, the 35A encounters line 38 again – precisely the tram that is also part of the Vienna Expansion.
After Krottenbachstraße, the route continues via Flotowgasse, Rodlergasse, Kratzlgasse, Gustav-Pick-Gasse and Glanzing. Kammerergasse, Strehlgasse and the Hackenberg allotment association follow before the bus reaches Neustift, Agnesgasse and Neustift am Walde. Via Celtesgasse, it finally continues to the terminus at Salmannsdorf. In the real timetable, up to 23 minutes are scheduled for the complete journey during peak hours.
The surroundings along the 35A also change accordingly. Spittelau and the area around Nußdorfer Straße are closely integrated into Vienna’s suburban rail, underground, tram and bus network. Further out, the line passes through residential areas of the 19th district and finally reaches Neustift am Walde and Salmannsdorf.
Neustift am Walde is also part of Vienna’s wine-growing landscape. One route of the Vienna Wine Hiking Day begins there; for travel to this section, the 35A to Neustift am Walde is explicitly indicated. From there, the hiking route continues via the Salmannsdorfer Höhe toward Sievering. Vienna has around 600 hectares of vineyards, and the 2026 route in the 19th district runs for 10.8 kilometers from Neustift am Walde via Sievering, Cobenzl and Grinzing to Nussdorf.
The Heuriger establishments there are also not merely part of the tourist image. Neustift am Walde is described as an old winegrowers’ village; numerous wineries and Buschenschänken are located in Neustift and the surrounding areas. There are corresponding establishments in Salmannsdorf as well.
These exact areas form part of the surroundings of the Vienna Expansion. More than 1,000 buildings have been recreated realistically along the three routes. Road layouts and stops are based on their real-life counterparts, complemented by historic buildings, public squares and typical Viennese Heuriger areas.
The 35A therefore also differs spatially from the two tram lines. From Schottentor, 37 and 38 initially share a common section of track before continuing to Hohe Warte and Grinzing, respectively. The 35A serves further parts of Döbling on tires and runs to Salmannsdorf. At the same time, bus and tram meet again at several points in the network.
In the real timetable, the 35A runs at frequent intervals during the day. Depending on the day of the week and time of day, departures are sometimes only five to ten minutes apart. At particularly frequent intervals, individual journeys may operate over a shortened route.
Two bus sizes are available for the route in CTS 2026. In addition to the C2 solo bus, the C2 articulated bus is part of the Vienna Expansion. Both feature Wiener Linien livery; driver’s cabs and interiors have also been implemented.
On October 13, 2026, the 35A will become drivable together with tram lines 37 and 38. Anyone who already owns City Transport Simulator 2026 and wants the other content of the year in addition to Vienna can also get the complete Vienna Expansion through the already available Season Pass 2026.
The Vienna Expansion launches on October 13, 2026 and will cost €49.99. The price consists of just under €30 for the new Vienna map and just under €20 for the included vehicles. The shop page is already online, while the expansion itself will become available for purchase at release.

- Vienna Edition: €69.99 → approx. €66.49

The 35A thus connects several sides of the Vienna map within a single route: the Spittelau transport hub, connections to the two new tram lines, residential areas in Döbling and finally Neustift and Salmannsdorf. On October 13, the route can be driven completely with the C2 or articulated bus for the first time.
Are you more excited about the 35A or the two tram lines 37 and 38 in the Vienna Expansion? Would you drive the 35A first with the C2 solo bus or go straight for the articulated bus?
