Four Variants, 600 Kilometres, Digital Mirrors: The Ebus 2.2 Launches on 26 August!
Ebus 2.2 will launch as a paid expansion for The Bus on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. TML-Studios and Aerosoft will release the DLC simultaneously for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That leaves eleven days between the publication date of this article on 15 August and the launch.

The vehicle will be offered in four configurations. They consist of a 12-metre solo bus with two doors, a solo bus of the same length with three doors, an 18-metre articulated bus with three doors and an articulated bus with four doors. The variants therefore differ not only in length but also in the number of passenger doors.
Depending on the version, there will be space for up to 150 passengers. A breakdown of seats and standing capacity for each individual variant has not yet been provided. The published interior image shows a low-floor layout, yellow grab rails, patterned seats, stop-request buttons and several passenger information displays.

For the electric drive, the official DLC page on Steam states a range of up to 600 kilometres, depending on the selected variant. Charging uses a CCS connection. LED lighting, air conditioning, electric heating, a heat pump and USB ports are also listed as equipment. The product description does not yet provide specific battery capacities, charging rates or individual range figures for each model.
The driver's cab consists of a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, control panels on both sides and a separate Atron terminal. The published cockpit screenshot also shows a conventional exterior mirror on the right-hand side of the vehicle. It therefore displays one of the two announced mirror configurations.

Another image shows the right-hand control panel in detail. Visible elements include the illuminated D, N and R direction selector, two red door buttons and switches carrying symbols for doors, accessibility and other vehicle functions. The Atron terminal displays a sequence of stops and fields for ticket sales.

A new option for The Bus is the ability to use a digital exterior-mirror camera system instead of conventional mirrors. According to the developers, it consists of two side-mounted HD cameras. Their images are shown in real time on monitors mounted to the A-pillars and combined in a split-screen view. Players will be able to choose between the camera system and conventional mirrors.
The exterior camera sits in a compact housing above the side windows. The corresponding monitor images are not visible in this screenshot. Screenshot: TML-Studios/Aerosoft
TML also lists a CornerEye camera system intended to cover the area in front of and beside the bus. The six available screenshots do not show exactly how its image is presented in the driver's cab. They also do not include a close-up view of the digital exterior-mirror monitors.
The electric design is most clearly visible in the images through the charging connection. One close-up shows an opened flap on the side of the vehicle, two connector openings and instructions relating to charging and high voltage. It does not provide enough information to draw further conclusions about an interactive charging procedure or simulated charging times.
The charging connections, high-voltage warning and operating instructions are located behind the opened flap. TML identifies CCS as the charging standard. Screenshot: TML-Studios/Aerosoft
The interior and exterior of Ebus 2.2 will be customisable. A complete list of liveries, seat fabrics or other selectable components available at launch has not yet been published. For the PC version, the Steam page also lists Steam Workshop compatibility. This does not confirm corresponding Workshop support on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Ebus 2.2 will be playable at gamescom before its release. TML-Studios and Aerosoft will present the vehicle on a simulator in Hall 9 at Booth B-043. The trade-show appearance will therefore provide visitors with the first announced opportunity to drive the new bus themselves in The Bus.
TML is also working on a larger August update for the main game. Announced features include AI trams, custom operating schedules in Economy Mode, reworked steering-wheel physics, bug fixes and performance improvements. Force feedback and telemetry are also planned for consoles. The existing announcements present this update and the Ebus 2.2 DLC as separate releases; an identical release date has not been explicitly confirmed.
As of 15 August, the main unanswered details are the price and the DLC's exact unlock time. Individual technical figures for each of the four variants have not been published either. The confirmed information includes the 26 August date, all three target platforms, the four length and door configurations, and the choice between conventional exterior mirrors and the new camera system.
Which of the four variants do you want to drive first: the two-door or three-door solo bus, or the three-door or four-door articulated bus? Will you use the digital camera system or conventional exterior mirrors?
