9 delivery locations, waterfalls and a battleship memorial: This is how SCS is building Sioux Falls for ATS!

SCS Software has turned its attention to Sioux Falls, the largest city in South Dakota. Built around the Big Sioux River, it combines historic buildings with modern businesses and industrial areas. The map team intends to recreate that contrast instead of presenting Sioux Falls as a collection of ordinary roads and company yards.

The familiar welcome sign will greet players when they enter the city. One of the most important landmarks will be Falls Park, featuring the waterfalls on the Big Sioux River. These falls gave Sioux Falls its name and are among the best-known attractions in the state.

Several recognisable locations are also being created in the downtown area. They include the quartzite Minnehaha County Courthouse, which has been part of the city for more than a century. The local bus station and its colourful mural will appear nearby. Other confirmed landmarks include the Arc of Dreams sculpture and Fawick Park.

The USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial will provide a more unusual sight. The memorial honours the crew of the Second World War battleship of the same name. In ATS, players will be able to see one of the ship’s original main gun barrels there.

For drivers, the city’s economic content is particularly important. SCS names nine different workplaces in and around Sioux Falls:

• Food processing plant
• Warehouse
• Construction site
• Rail supply depot
• Metalworks
• Wind turbine factory
• Recreational vehicle dealership
• Truck dealership
• Quarry

This gives Sioux Falls a mixture of conventional warehouse and construction contracts alongside more specialised cargo for railways, metal production, wind energy and recreational vehicles. Materials and equipment can also be transported to and from the city’s large quarry.

The quarry is also connected to the city’s architecture. The local quarrying industry supplied material used in several historic Sioux Falls buildings. SCS is therefore linking a visible part of the city’s history directly to a usable delivery destination.

Sioux Falls represents only part of the complete DLC. The official Steam page also names Mitchell, Rapid City and the state capital Pierre as delivery cities. Deadwood, Wall and Sturgis will appear on the map as well. Interstate 90 runs east to west through the southern half of the state, while Interstate 29 crosses the eastern region from north to south.

There is still no release date or price. Steam lists the South Dakota DLC only as “To be announced”, while the newly shown images and content remain work in progress.

Sioux Falls will therefore offer not only several recognisable landmarks, but also an unusually broad economic mix. Nine delivery destinations, a major quarry and numerous local sights are intended to give South Dakota’s largest city a distinct identity inside ATS.
