New tram sim on Steam: Elektronka: Bratislava is now playable as a demo!
Thank you for your understanding!
Elektronka: Bratislava is one of those projects tram fans immediately want to look at more closely. No fantasy city, no generic tram world, but Bratislava. Add well-known vehicles, a real depot connection and the attempt to simulate more than just simple driving. Now the project becomes more tangible: the demo for Elektronka: Bratislava is available on Steam.
The full game has still not been released. On Steam, the release date is currently listed as To be announced. That is exactly why the demo is interesting: it is not a full look at the finished game, but it is the first public test point. Players can now see how Elektronka basically feels before the full version eventually arrives.
At the centre of the demo is the T6A5, a vehicle many tram fans will immediately recognise. According to Steam, this well-known tram can be tested at Krasňany Depot before its reconstruction. That means the demo is not set in just any test area, but in a clearly defined public transport location.
What makes Elektronka especially interesting is what the game promises overall. The developers describe it as a tram ride through Bratislava with iconic and beloved trams. Players are meant to test their precision, connect tram sets and switch turnouts. According to the Steam page, real tram drivers were also involved in the development.
That is exactly where Elektronka becomes interesting for simulation fans. A tram simulation does not live only from a good-looking vehicle. The key question is whether operation, braking, timetable logic, route behaviour and small manual steps feel believable. If real drivers are involved, that can help capture typical procedures and quirks more accurately.
Elektronka is also planned to offer more than a pure driving mode. Steam mentions several game modes, including career and free play. Smooth driving and keeping to the timetable are supposed to be rewarded. Through an XP system, players should be able to unlock new tram sets and routes.
That puts Elektronka closer to an accessible, playable tram simulator than a pure technical demo. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Many tram fans want authentic controls and realistic vehicles, but they also appreciate progress, goals and clear motivation in the game.
The planned vehicles are also interesting. The demo focuses on the T6A5, but the full game is set in the present day. According to Steam, Škoda trams are therefore also planned for the future.
This could allow Elektronka to appeal to two groups: fans of classic vehicles who are excited for the T6A5, and players who want to experience present-day Bratislava with more modern trams. How extensive this will ultimately become remains open. There is no release date yet and no complete final vehicle or route list.
Another important detail concerns the sound. According to the Steam page, the sounds for the game were obtained in cooperation with Dopravný podnik Bratislava, Bratislava’s transport company. For a tram simulation, this is not a minor point. Older trams in particular live strongly through their sounds: acceleration, braking, switches, doors, traction motors and track noises all matter when trying to make a vehicle feel believable.
Technically, Elektronka is currently clearly aimed at PC players. The minimum requirements listed on Steam include Windows 10, an i5 processor, 12 GB RAM, a GeForce RTX 2060 and 7 GB of available storage. For a demo, that is notable because the entry barrier does not appear to be extremely low.
Still, the demo needs to be understood correctly. It is not a full test of the finished game. It does not automatically show the final scope, all planned vehicles or the final quality. But it is an important step because players can now experience for themselves what direction Elektronka: Bratislava is heading in.
Did you already have Elektronka: Bratislava on your radar? Does Bratislava interest you as a new tram sim city? Are you more excited for the T6A5 or for later Škoda trams?
