13 days after release: The Tatra KT4D sits at 84% – is this the strongest CTS tram DLC so far?
The Tatra KT4D has been available for City Transport Simulator 2026 since June 30, 2026. If this article goes online on July 13, 2026 at 8 PM, the DLC will have been on the market for 13 days. That is enough time to look at the most important numbers – and they show: The Tatra is not only a nostalgic vehicle, but one of the most noticeable tram DLCs for CTS 2026. Steam lists June 30, 2026 as the release date and currently shows the DLC with 84% positive reviews from 13 user reviews.
The first hard value is therefore the rating. At the last check, the Tatra KT4D stood at 84% positive on Steam. This was based on 13 user reviews counted for the overall rating. That is not yet a huge data basis, but for a fresh vehicle DLC it is a clearly positive early signal. Above all, it shows that the Tatra is not only being noticed, but is being received mostly well by the first players.
The price is also clear: In the official CTS shop, the Tatra KT4D costs €19.99 individually. With our coupon SIMULATORENNEWS, you save 5%, which brings the price down mathematically to around €18.99. So if you really only want to drive this one tram, you can buy the DLC directly at a lower price.

But it gets especially interesting with the CTS 2026 Season Pass. The Season Pass costs €64.99 regularly and gives access to the upcoming content of the year, including the Citybus C2, the Tatra KT4D, the upcoming Vienna Bus & Tram Map, the Flexity Graz and, as an exclusive bonus, the Citybus C2K. The C2K is especially important because, according to the official description, it cannot be bought separately and is only included for Season Pass owners.
With our coupon SIMULATORENNEWS, the Season Pass drops mathematically from €64.99 to around €61.74. That is around €3.25 in additional discount. According to the official announcement, the Season Pass already saves €42.97 compared with buying all DLCs individually outside of sales. So if you do not only want the Tatra, but also Vienna, the C2, the Flexity Graz and the exclusive C2K, you should take a very close look at the package.

The vehicle data also shows why the Tatra KT4D feels so different in CTS 2026. According to the official product page, the DLC is based on the Frankfurt vehicles built between 1987 and 1990. The KT4D itself is listed with production years from 1975 to 1990. After German reunification, the vehicles were modernized, including new seats and new interior panels.
Technically, the Tatra is compact, but far from unspectacular: 18 meters car body length, 19 meters over couplings, 2.2 meters width, 20.3 tons weight, 31 seats, 83 to 105 standing places and 65 km/h top speed. Its power output is 4 × 40 kW, meaning 160 kW in total. It also uses DC series wound motors with PCC accelerator control, a spring-applied holding brake and a spring-applied parking brake.
If you calculate the listed single-car values purely mathematically for double traction, you reach 62 seats and 166 to 210 standing places. Together, that would theoretically mean 228 to 272 passenger places for two coupled vehicles. Important: This is a mathematical derivation from the official single-car data, not a separately confirmed in-game capacity figure.
The big difference compared with modern CTS trams is not only in the numbers, but in the operation. The Tatra KT4D brings pedal control, PCC accelerator control and double traction operation. ViewApp itself highlights that acceleration and braking are controlled via pedals and that the Tatra therefore feels noticeably different from modern trams.
Improvements also followed quickly after release. On July 6, 2026, the Tatra KT4D Hotfix v2026.1.1 was released. It addressed, among other things, the 3D model of the pantograph, roof color, announcements in the second vehicle of a double traction, relay sounds, main contactor arc sound, key bindings, gamepad displays, parking brake, AI behavior, crashes and a freeze related to door release and opening all doors. This clearly reads like a direct response to feedback from the first few days.
That is exactly why the interim verdict after 13 days is fairly clear: The Tatra KT4D is visibly being received well so far, even though the review base is still small. 84% positive is a strong signal for a young DLC. At the same time, the early hotfix shows that not everything was perfect at launch, but that ViewApp has already improved specific points.
For the purchase decision, things remain relatively simple. If you really only want the Tatra KT4D, buy it individually and save mathematically around €1 with SIMULATORENNEWS. But if you plan to stay with CTS 2026 long term and are also interested in Vienna, Citybus C2, Flexity Graz or the exclusive C2K, the Season Pass becomes the much more interesting calculation. Because then it is no longer only about one tram, but about the complete CTS year 2026.
Have you already tried the Tatra KT4D? How do you like the pedal control compared with modern trams? Is an 84% positive Steam rating already a strong signal for you?
