More than 1,000 new buildings for Vienna: This CTS DLC will not be a normal map trip!

The upcoming Vienna DLC for City Transport Simulator 2026 is not simply a new map. For the game, it is a real change of direction. With Vienna Bus & Tram, a real city is coming to CTS as a map DLC for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2026. And this is where it gets interesting: More than 1,000 new buildings have been created for this map.

This number matters more than it may seem at first glance. A real city in a simulation does not only work through tracks, roads and stops. It works through recognition. Through facades. Through streetscapes. Through the feeling that you are not just driving through some generic European backdrop, but through a place that really has its own identity.

That is exactly what could make Vienna so special for CTS. The city is not only coming into the game as a background setting, but with two tram lines and one bus line. The exact lines have not yet been officially revealed. Still, especially for players from Vienna, it should be interesting to see whether they can already recognise familiar sections, buildings or streetscapes from the first images.

The effort behind such a map is massive. More than 1,000 buildings do not automatically mean that every street is perfectly recreated. But it shows that this is not just a case of redistributing a few standard houses. Especially in a city like Vienna, which strongly lives from its architecture, wide streets, old-building character and public transport structures, the environment may ultimately decide whether the DLC truly works.

On top of that, vehicles in original Vienna equipment are included. These are planned to include the Vienna Citybus C2 as a solo version with three doors and as an articulated bus with four doors, as well as the ULF A and ULF B tram. The Vienna C2 buses differ in several details from the vehicles already known from the game, including an adapted dashboard and outward-sliding doors.

This means Vienna is not only a map, but its own package of city, lines and vehicles. That is important because real maps only work when not only the route is right, but also the vehicle feeling. If you drive Vienna, you do not want to move just any bus along a Vienna street. You want to experience a vehicle that visually and technically fits this city.
