Vienna is coming for sure – but Munich? Why CTS fans should not expect it for now!

Is Munich coming directly after Vienna in City Transport Simulator 2026? The short answer is: No, Munich is not planned right now.

That does not automatically mean it has been decided forever that Munich will never come. But at the same time, it has also not been decided that Munich will come. As things stand, there is no concrete announcement and no known plan confirming Munich as the next real city for CTS 2026.

And honestly: Maybe it would not even be a bad thing if, after Vienna, CTS did not immediately move to one of the big German classics again. Berlin, Munich and Hamburg are strong names, no question. But these are exactly the cities that appear again and again in German public transport simulations, wish lists and discussions. For CTS in particular, it could be exciting to put other cities into focus for once.

Because City Transport Simulator 2026 does not live only from the name of a city, but from the combination of bus, tram, route layout, cityscape and atmosphere. For that, it does not always have to be Munich. Cities such as Leipzig, Dresden, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hanover, Bremen, Freiburg or Karlsruhe would also have interesting public transport profiles and could give the game its own identity.

The big real milestone for now is clearly Vienna. In the fourth quarter of 2026, Map DLC: Vienna Bus & Tram will be released as the first real map for City Transport Simulator 2026. The city of Vienna will enter the game with three lines: two tram lines and one bus line. Which exact lines these are has not yet been officially revealed. However, it may well be possible that people from Vienna can already recognise one or another route from the first images.

According to the current information, more than 1,000 new buildings have been created for the Vienna map. In addition, adapted vehicles in original Vienna equipment are included. These include the Vienna Citybus C2 as a solo version with three doors and as an articulated version with four doors, as well as the Vienna ULF A and ULF B tram. The Vienna vehicles differ in many details from the vehicles already known from the game. The C2 buses have, among other things, an adapted dashboard and outward-sliding doors.
