Passengers Instead of Cargo: Why TruckersMP Has Made ETS2 Feel Completely Different Since July!

TruckersMP released the Heavy Vehicles Turkey Coach Bus on 10 July 2026. Several weeks later, one thing has become particularly clear: the most interesting part of the expansion is not simply the coach itself.

It is everything surrounding it.

TruckersMP has connected the vehicle to its own passenger and job system. Starting a coach service therefore means more than simply driving a bus model around the familiar ETS2 map. There is now an actual process that differs considerably from traditional trucking.

And surprisingly, one small animation makes a significant difference.

Passengers actually walk towards the coach and visibly board it.

TruckersMP specifically highlights this feature. Passengers are therefore more than an abstract number displayed somewhere in a menu. Before departure, players can watch them approach the vehicle and get on board.

At first, that may sound like a small detail. In practice, however, it changes the atmosphere considerably.

Traditional ETS2 cargo is normally represented by a trailer or load that you collect before transporting it from A to B. A coach service creates a small scene before the journey even begins: you are waiting at the stop, passengers approach the vehicle, boarding takes place and only then does the actual service begin.

Suddenly, you are no longer simply transporting something.

You are transporting people.

That creates a very different gameplay rhythm, and TruckersMP has built its Bus Job Dispatcher around it.

The process is relatively straightforward. Players open the Player Panel with Tab, select the bus icon and choose a route through the Bus Job Dispatcher. They then drive to the designated departure stop and begin boarding before starting the actual journey.

That gives coach driving something a simple vehicle mod would be missing: purpose.

There is a starting point. There is a route. There are passengers. And there is a service to complete.

TruckersMP also does not judge the experience solely by whether you eventually reach the destination. The system includes statistics such as punctuality and service quality, while TruckersMP also describes rewards based on your performance.

That changes the focus.

When driving a truck, arriving late or driving somewhat aggressively may primarily affect your own journey. With passengers on board, the exact same driving style suddenly has a different meaning.

You are no longer merely trying to reach the destination.

And that is why the coach remains interesting several weeks after its release.

The feature demonstrates how much potential exists in ETS2's enormous world when that world is used for something other than freight.

For many years, TruckersMP has been associated with a very specific experience: hundreds or thousands of players sharing the map, long truck journeys, convoys, events, crowded roads and, of course, a few places where traffic occasionally descends into complete chaos.

None of that has disappeared.

Passenger transport simply adds a completely different reason to use those same roads.

A route that you may already have driven dozens of times with a semi-truck can feel surprisingly different from behind the wheel of a coach. Instead of freight companies and loading areas, departure points and passenger stops become important. Instead of trailers and cargo, the service itself becomes the focus.

That is why it would be a mistake to dismiss the Heavy Vehicles Turkey Coach Bus as simply “another vehicle for TruckersMP”.

Getting access to it is also relatively straightforward. According to TruckersMP, the coach is downloaded automatically through the TruckersMP Launcher, so players do not need to install the vehicle separately by hand.

There is, however, one distinction that remains extremely important:

This is not the official Coaches DLC from SCS Software.

TruckersMP is an independent multiplayer project for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. The Heavy Vehicles Turkey Coach Bus, its dispatcher and its passenger functionality are part of TruckersMP.

At the same time, SCS Software continues to develop its own Coaches project for Euro Truck Simulator 2. That project is intended to introduce coach driving as a new experience within ETS2 itself. SCS has already discussed dedicated bus stations and a Passenger Satisfaction system in which factors such as driving style and punctuality matter.

And that makes the current situation particularly interesting.

There are now two very different approaches to passenger transport within the ETS2 world.

TruckersMP already demonstrates how coach services can work in multiplayer, while SCS is developing a system that will be integrated directly into the main game.

TruckersMP also has one major advantage right now: players can already experience what happens when ETS2 suddenly stops being exclusively about pallets, machinery, food and other freight.

Perhaps the most interesting conclusion several weeks after the launch is therefore not that TruckersMP now has a bus.

It is that the concept fits ETS2 remarkably well.

The map is already large enough to support these kinds of services. Bus stations and cities gain another purpose. Familiar roads can be used differently. Even something as simple as waiting for the final passengers to walk towards the coach creates a moment that conventional freight jobs simply do not have.

After more than a decade of Euro Truck Simulator 2, that feels surprisingly fresh.

Of course, coach driving does not replace trucking.

Nor should it.

TruckersMP remains a world full of trucks, freight and convoys. But that may actually be the strongest part of the new system: it does not take anything away from the existing experience.

It adds a second kind of working day.

Cargo or passengers. Trailer or coach. Haulage company or passenger service.

And if SCS Software's upcoming Coaches project eventually takes the concept considerably further, passenger transport could become a much larger part of ETS2 than many players would have expected only a few years ago.
