51,363 concurrent players – and no, this is not about a new truck simulator, a major railway title, or a huge open-world game. Supermarket Simulator reached a number on Steam that makes you look twice: Tens of thousands of players were standing virtually between shelves, checkout, deliveries, and price tags at the same time.

This number describes the previous Steam all-time peak from 17 March 2024. It does not say how many people are playing at the same time today. Nevertheless, it remains strong because it shows how large the interest in this seemingly simple supermarket routine once became on Steam.

What Supermarket Simulator is

Supermarket Simulator was developed and published by Nokta Games. The Early Access launch was on 20 February 2024, followed by the full Steam release on 19 June 2025.

The game is a first-person management simulation. We take over our own supermarket, design it, buy goods, stock shelves, serve customers, and try to gradually turn a small store into a larger market.

From shelf to checkout: What we really do in the game

At its core, it is about very tangible tasks. We place products on shelves, in fridges, and in cabinets, organise the storage room, scan items at the checkout, and accept cash or card payments.

Then there is the store layout. Shelves and cabinets can be placed freely, the market can be expanded, and we decide how the supermarket is built. This is exactly why every store feels a little different.

Prices, goods, customers, and shoplifters

Supermarket Simulator does not stop at shelves and checkout. We set prices, buy goods online or at local markets in the city, and react to the market. Those who buy cheaply and sell smartly progress faster.

There are also online orders that can be delivered to customers, as well as shoplifters we have to deal with. The official website also highlights cashiering and money management: We decide ourselves how much change we give back.

Why co-op changes everyday supermarket life

The online co-op is especially interesting. According to Steam, we can run the store together with up to four friends. That turns the single-player routine into a small team chaos.

One person stocks shelves, someone serves customers, another takes care of online orders, deliveries, cleaning, prices, or drives trucks. This division of tasks in particular makes the supermarket feel more alive because not everything depends on one person anymore.

What DLCs and additional content expand

There are several DLCs and additional contents on Steam. These include Electronics, Hardware, Bakery, Ice Cream, Essentials, and Vending Machine.

This lets the store grow further thematically. It is no longer only about classic supermarket products, but about additional sections, new goods, and other sales areas. For players who want to expand their market for longer, such additions are naturally interesting.

Why 107,824 is not a Steam player peak

A clear classification is important: The number 107,824 does not belong to the Steam player peak. According to SteamDB, it describes the Twitch all-time peak.

That means: This many viewers were recorded around Supermarket Simulator on Twitch as the all-time high. That is also a strong number, but it says something different from concurrent players on Steam.

Why reviews, Twitch numbers, and player peaks must be separated clearly

Accuracy is also worthwhile with the reviews. SteamDB currently shows around 82,903 reviews, including around 76,342 positive and 6,561 negative. The SteamDB rating is around 90.69%. The Steam page lists the overall user reviews as Very Positive.

On Steam itself, around 78,165 Steam purchaser reviews in all languages are also listed. For the English reviews, there are around 33,785 reviews with 92% positive, while the last 30 days are around 657 reviews with 87% positive.

These are strong values. But reviews are not sales, Twitch numbers are not player numbers, and owner numbers remain estimates. What we can say for sure is this: Supermarket Simulator has visibly reached many players, collected many reviews, and achieved a remarkable Steam peak.

According to Steam, the game supports single-player, online co-op, Steam achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. There are also 15 Steam achievements and 20 supported languages, including German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, and Polish.

In the end, the success no longer feels that absurd. Supermarket Simulator makes an everyday routine playable that we all know. Only with responsibility, numbers, customers, chaos, expansion, and the question of whether our small market can eventually become something truly large.

Have you already tried Supermarket Simulator – or does a virtual supermarket feel more like work than play to you?
