When is Update 10 for SubwaySim 2 FINALLY coming? Now there is a clear developer answer!
Thank you for your understanding!
Many SubwaySim 2 players are currently waiting for Update 10. And yes, exactly this question keeps coming up with us: When is the update finally coming? The short answer is: There is still no fixed release date. But the slightly better answer is: Update 10 is in progress and is currently in the testing and optimization phase.
On 05 June 2026, the developers gave a short update on this. According to that, the team is doing its best to release a new update as quickly as possible. The next update should then be Update 10 and should include, among other things, the announced switch sounds. Exactly these switch sounds are exciting for many players because they can make train operation acoustically a little more understandable. Especially in a subway simulator, such sound details are not just a side issue, but part of whether runs feel clean and coherent.
But what is important is: The update is not finished yet. According to the developer statement, it is currently in the testing and optimization phase. That means it is not simply being waited on or nothing is being done, but it is being checked, adjusted, and improved. Exactly this phase can be annoying because as a player, you naturally finally want to get started. At the same time, however, it is important because an update should not only release, but also work cleanly.
The developers essentially write: As soon as this phase is completed, the update will come. Until then, they ask for just a little more patience. This is not a big roadmap, not a long blog post, and not a date on the calendar. But it is at least a clear classification: Update 10 has not been forgotten, Update 10 has not been cancelled, and Update 10 is already in testing and optimization.
For the community, this is still a typical waiting situation. On the one hand, you naturally want to see new content and improvements as quickly as possible. On the other hand, everyone who has followed simulation games for longer knows: An update released too early can ultimately cause more frustration than joy. Especially when sounds, technical processes, or certain driving situations are affected, this has to be tested cleanly. Otherwise, the complaints later will probably be louder than the impatience before.
That is why the current status can be summarized quite clearly: Update 10 for SubwaySim 2 will come as soon as the ongoing testing and optimization phase is completed. Among other things, switch sounds are planned. A concrete date has not been named. So anyone who was hoping for a date unfortunately still does not get a final answer. But anyone who wanted to know whether work is being done on it at all gets a much better message: Yes, the update is actively in progress.
Especially because the question is asked so often, this classification is important. It does not help much to guess a new date every day or build false expectations. The current status is: The developers are working on it, testing, optimizing, and want to bring the update as quickly as possible. More has not currently been promised – and that is exactly how it should be communicated.
In the end, this means: Update 10 is on the way, but has not yet been released. The switch sounds are supposed to come with the next update, and fine-tuning is currently underway. So anyone who plays SubwaySim 2 still has to bring a little more patience. But at least we now know: It is not hanging in the air, but is already in a concrete phase before release.
The question for you is: Are you mainly waiting for the switch sounds – or should Update 10 bring significantly more improvements for you? Have you played SubwaySim 2 recently?
