Take a key or give a key: Our free game key exchange brings the community together!
We have created a new free exchange for game keys for our community on the Simulatoren-News Discord. The channel is called #habe-keys-übrig and is meant for everyone who either still has keys left over or simply wants to check whether they can take a suitable key from the community. The Discord link is: https://discord.gg/VCuwGVdQcq
What is important to us right away is the correct classification: This is not just a “free stuff corner,” not a sales place, and not an area where anyone has to do anything. It is about a free exchange from users for users. Anyone who has a key left over can provide it voluntarily. Anyone who is currently looking for a game can browse and maybe take a suitable key. Anyone who does not want to give or take anything simply does nothing. That is exactly how it should be. No pressure, no obligation, no bad conscience.
The idea behind it is simple, but strong: A key that only sits in an old list with one person can be a small highlight for someone else from the community. Many people know this. You buy a bundle, get an additional code and already own a game twice. Then the key often simply stays unused. In our new channel, it can maybe still become a game evening, a new find, or a small thank-you within the community.
What is especially nice is that several, partly dozens of offers have already gathered. We would like to explicitly say thank you for that at this point. Thank you to all users who are already providing keys, sharing offers, or giving something back to the community in this way. Exactly such small actions show that Simulatoren-News does not only consist of articles, news, reels, and comments, but of real people who can support each other.
Of course, the whole thing should remain fair. There is no guarantee that everyone will always get a key. Some keys are gone quickly, some offers may not match one’s own taste, and not every code is interesting for everyone. That is completely normal. The only important thing is to treat each other respectfully. If you take a key, be honest. If you offer a key, make it as clear as possible what it is about. If something has been taken, you can briefly write that. The cleaner this works, the better the channel works for everyone.
Especially as a community project, this exchange is exciting because it does more than just distribute keys. It brings people into contact. Maybe someone briefly writes with someone else because of a game, maybe a conversation comes out of it, maybe someone discovers a game they would otherwise never have tried. That sounds small at first, but exactly such things make a community more alive. Not everyone always has to only read, comment, or discuss. Sometimes a leftover game key is enough to make someone else happy.
That is why the channel is deliberately kept open and uncomplicated. You can take a look, browse, maybe take a key, maybe offer a key yourself, or simply observe what happens there. Nobody expects you to provide anything. Nobody expects you to take anything. It is a voluntary offer for everyone who feels like giving something to the community or maybe finding something suitable themselves.
In short: Our new game key exchange is meant to become a small place for more cohesion. Free, voluntary, and among each other. If you find a key that interests you, you can be happy. If you have a key left over yourself, you can make someone else happy. And if you simply take a look, that is completely fine too.
