New Subway Simulation Ahead of Steam Launch: Will Subway Builder Be the Surprise Hit of 2026?
Subway Builder is scheduled to be released on Steam in spring 2026. According to the official roadmap, the Steam launch, including achievements and cloud saves, is planned for this period.
What makes it special: this is not a classic driving simulation, but rather a hyper-realistic transport network simulation.
You build an entire subway system completely from the ground up—including stations, tunnels, viaducts, and route layouts. In doing so, real constraints such as construction costs, geography, road networks, and building foundations play a central role.
The passenger simulation is especially strong.
According to the developer, millions of commuters are generated from real census and redistricting data and simulated using routing algorithms similar to those used in smartphone map applications. This means that passengers react to transfers, waiting times, delays, ticket prices, and total travel time.
This creates a significantly more analytical approach than in classic metro games.
Buildings are already implemented in three dimensions, and during the current spring of 2026, 3D tracks, trains, tunnels, and bridges are also set to follow. This is likely to significantly enhance the Steam launch even further.
In terms of price, the game currently costs 30 US dollars on the official website and is expected to cost 40 US dollars on Steam.
For simulation fans who enjoy planning, optimizing, and analyzing real transport networks, this could become a real surprise topic in 2026.
Is this more of a game or a simulation for you? Does the planning-focused approach appeal to you? Are you interested in real cities? Will this be a surprise hit? Will you get it at the Steam release?
