New map or expand Tramau first? The ongoing conflict around City Transport Simulator 2026!

Especially right now, it feels as if there is already a sufficient variety of vehicles available. Buses and trams are now present in a solid range, which is why many people in the community understandably say that a new city should now be the logical next step. More variety, a different cityscape, new road layouts, and new routes would immediately give the game a fresh appeal. Wishes such as Vienna or other cities have been appearing in the comments for a long time, and this desire for something completely new is absolutely understandable. At some point, as a player, you no longer just want to see new vehicles—you also want to experience new places, new perspectives, and new route characteristics.

On the other hand, there are just as many voices asking for the exact opposite.

Many say that Tramau itself should first be expanded further before opening the next major city. More districts, additional lines, expansions into the surrounding areas, or new distinctive sections would significantly strengthen the existing world and give the game more depth. That is exactly the point where the conflict arises.

In the end, it is a classic double-edged sword.

A new map immediately brings visible variety and a major “wow effect,” but it also takes a lot of development time and could make Tramau continue to feel unfinished for some players. Expanding the existing map, on the other hand, strengthens the foundation and gives the world more depth, but may generate less attention and less of the feeling that something truly new has been added.

And that is exactly why it is probably extremely difficult for ViewApp to satisfy everyone here.

Honestly, that is probably even impossible.

Because no matter which path the studio chooses, the other side will always say: why not finally do the other thing?

That is exactly why this topic is so interesting, because it shows very clearly how differently the community thinks. Some finally want Vienna or city XYZ, while others first want Tramau itself to grow significantly and feel more alive.

Maybe that is actually a good sign in the end: the game now has so many different types of players that there is no simple answer anymore.

New city or Tramau expansion? What would you prefer? Should Vienna finally come? Or would you rather have more lines in Tramau?
