Which areas of Berlin will the upcoming Line 186 in OMSI 2 cover—and why is it one of the most exciting routes in the West?
With the upcoming add-on OMSI 2 – Berlin Line 186, a route awaits you that showcases the west of the capital in all its variety. The line is one of the longer city bus routes in southern Berlin, with more than 40 stops, and depending on traffic, the full journey takes around one hour.
Right from the starting point, the route sets a clear contrast. It begins in Lichterfelde Süd, on the edge of the well-known Thermometer Estate. This area is symbolic of the functional urban planning of the 1970s and immediately creates a very distinct Berlin city atmosphere.
From there, the route continues past Lichterfelde Stadium and across the Teltow Canal, where residential areas, major traffic axes, and striking crossings alternate. This mix alone makes the southern section of the line highly varied.
A real highlight then follows in the Steglitz area. Schloßstraße brings classic Berlin big-city feeling into the game: dense traffic, large shopping centers, and an urban streetscape. For many, this will likely become one of the most atmospheric parts of the route.
What makes it especially exciting is the area around the Steglitzer Kreisel. On certain runs, the bus actually drives directly into the high-rise building. This is one of the unique standout features of the DLC and something that should immediately catch the attention of many OMSI players.
The route then continues along the famous Schlangenbader Straße motorway overbuild, usually simply known in Berlin as “die Schlange”. This remarkable structure is one of the most architecturally distinctive sections of the line.
After that, the journey takes you through the Rheingauviertel, where Berlin neighborhood atmosphere meets classic Wilhelminian architecture. This is likely where the add-on will especially shine through its level of detail.
In Grunewald, villas, nature, and quieter streets dominate before the line finally ends at Grunewald S-Bahn station.

The DLC is currently not yet available, but the Steam page is already online and still marked as “coming soon.”
Would you say you’re most excited for Steglitz, the Rheingauviertel, or Grunewald? How do you like the Steglitzer Kreisel feature? Is this a must-buy for you?
