Why isn't there a perfect bus simulator YET?!

If we’re being honest, there’s currently hardly any way around OMSI 2. The community has just proven it once again. Driving physics, sound, level of detail—for many, the overall package remains unmatched to this day. You get in and immediately notice that the vehicle behaves differently. Heavier, more realistic, more understandable. That’s exactly why OMSI still holds the number one spot for so many players.

At the same time, there’s one point that keeps coming up: the graphics. Not because they’re bad—but because they’re simply no longer up to today’s standards. And that’s exactly where a thought emerges that almost everyone has had at some point: “What if OMSI could catch up in this area?”

Then you look at The Bus. And suddenly, you realize what’s technically possible today. The city feels more modern, more alive, larger. It feels different—almost like the next step. But at the same time, you also notice that other aspects are not yet at the level many players are used to from OMSI.

And then City Transport Simulator 2026 comes into play. Here, one thing stands out above all: movement within the genre. New systems, new approaches, features that show where things could be heading—especially for console players, who usually have fewer options.

And this is where it gets interesting. Because right now, the problem isn’t that there are no good games. Quite the opposite. We have several strong approaches—but they don’t fully come together yet.

OMSI shows how a bus should feel.
The Bus shows what a world can look like.
CTS shows what systems are possible.

And from this, one idea naturally emerges—one that almost everyone has had at some point.

Imagine stepping into a game that combines exactly these elements. You have the physics and depth of OMSI, the modern presentation of The Bus, and the systems and progression of CTS. Suddenly, everything feels coherent. Not perfect—but complete.

And this is where things become constructive. Because the question is no longer which game is better. The question is: what is still missing for one of these games to take that final step?

Maybe it doesn’t even require a completely new game. Maybe it’s enough for existing titles to continue improving exactly in these areas.

Is graphics really that important to you? Would you immediately play OMSI with modern graphics? What defines a perfect driving feel for you?
