The Bus on console: no multiplayer and no modding?!

The Bus is releasing tomorrow in full version, and one important question is coming up right now. Are there differences between the PC and console versions? At first glance, everything looks the same. But if you look closer, some key differences appear. And right after that, another question follows: why is the price the same on console?

In general, the core content of The Bus is the same across all platforms. This means the same map, routes and gameplay experience are available on both PC and consoles.

You can drive through Berlin and operate routes without missing the core experience.

However, differences appear when it comes to additional systems. Some features are only available on PC.

One of the biggest is modding. On PC, players can create or download custom content such as liveries or maps.

On consoles, modding is not supported. The game remains in its default state.

Another key difference is multiplayer. On PC, you can drive together with other players.

On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, multiplayer is not available, so gameplay is limited to single-player.

This leads to the main question: why is the price still the same on console?

The main reason is that the actual game content is identical. The full map, vehicles, routes and gameplay systems are all included on both platforms. You are not getting a smaller version of the game.

Modding and multiplayer are additional layers around the core experience. These features are often easier to implement on PC, while consoles have different technical requirements and platform restrictions.

You can think of it this way: on both platforms, you are paying for the same base game – the driving, the routes and the simulation itself. The difference lies in how much you can expand or modify that experience.
