New OMSI 2 add-on launches March 30 – and it takes you to Japan!

On March 30, a new add-on for OMSI 2 will be released, and this one stands out from many previous expansions. Instead of a German or European setting, the game takes players to Japan, more specifically to the coastal city of Numazu. When people think of Japan, Tokyo often comes to mind first. But there are many other cities. So what does a place like this feel like in a bus simulator, and what can you expect from the “Project Numazu” add-on?

Numazu is a port city located in Shizuoka Prefecture on the Japanese island of Honshū. It lies approximately 130 kilometers west of Tokyo at the mouth of the Kano River along Suruga Bay. The northern boundary of the city is formed by Mount Ashitaka, a stratovolcano that spans multiple municipalities in the region.

This geographical setting is reflected in the add-on. Mount Ashitaka is visible in the distance and functions as a reference point along the routes. The surrounding environment follows the real-world layout between coastline, river and adjacent areas.

The add-on “Project Numazu” includes several parts of the city. These include shopping streets, residential districts, industrial zones and the harbor area with its fish market. The routes connect these areas and are based on the local bus network.

A central hub within the map is Numazu Station. From there, multiple routes lead through different parts of the city, including Honmachi, Otemachi, the harbor district and the Meidensha industrial area. In addition, the N41 line connects the station with the industrial zone.

The road layout follows typical Japanese conditions. This includes narrower streets in some areas and a different traffic system. Vehicles drive on the left side of the road, which affects turning behavior and general navigation.

The routes pass through different types of areas, ranging from busier central sections to quieter residential neighborhoods and industrial zones. Coastal sections along Suruga Bay are also part of the network.
