Bus Bound or Bus Simulator 27 – which game is actually the successor to Bus Simulator 21?

The confusion mostly comes from the titles themselves. When players see Bus Simulator 27, many naturally assume it must be the next entry in the series after Bus Simulator 21. The name fits the pattern and the publisher remains the same.

However, the situation changes when you look at the development teams.

The previous entries in the series – Bus Simulator 16, Bus Simulator 18, and Bus Simulator 21 – were all developed by Stillalive Studios. This studio shaped the series for several years and built the foundation for the games many players know today.

With Bus Simulator 27, that changes. The publisher may still be the same, but the development itself is handled by a different studio.

This is where Bus Bound enters the picture.

Bus Bound is actually developed by Stillalive Studios, the very same team that created the last three Bus Simulator games. The difference this time lies in the publisher. Bus Bound is being published by Saber Interactive instead.

So while Bus Simulator 27 carries the familiar name of the series, the original development team behind the previous games is now working on a different bus simulation title.

For many players this situation feels a bit like two buses arriving at the same stop at the same time. Both belong to the same genre, both promise new simulation experiences, but they come from different teams and may follow different ideas.

Bus Bound is planned to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. How closely it will resemble the previous Bus Simulator titles remains to be seen.

What we already know, however, is this: if you are looking for the new bus game developed by the creators of the previous Bus Simulator titles, that project is currently Bus Bound – not Bus Simulator 27.
