Will the new Koralmbahn come to a train simulator? Developers announce plans!

A question has appeared more and more often in our comment sections lately. Ever since the new Koralmbahn railway line in Austria opened, many simulation fans seem curious about it. Whenever a new and major railway project appears in real life, the same thought quickly follows: could we eventually drive this route in a simulator as well? And interestingly, there are now first hints about exactly that – but will the Koralmbahn really come to a train simulator?

The Koralmbahn is currently one of the most interesting railway projects in Europe. The line connects the Austrian regions of Styria and Carinthia and represents one of the most modern railway connections in the country. Its development also took place over several stages rather than opening all at once.

The first sections in Styria entered service in 2010. Additional parts followed in Carinthia in December 2023. Freight traffic on the full route began in November 2025, and shortly afterward the full passenger service started operating. Since December 2025, trains can run across the entire line.

Projects like this naturally attract attention within the simulation community as well. In our comment sections we often see questions like: “Is the Koralmbahn already available in Train Simulator?” or “Will someone build this route for a simulator?”

At the moment there is no finished version of the route in a simulator. However, there is an interesting announcement from the developer RSSLO, a studio known for building railway routes for Train Simulator.

Because of the large amount of interest in the Koralmbahn, RSSLO has announced that they intend to develop the route for the simulator. The project will not begin immediately though. According to the developer, several other projects are currently in development. Some of them are already known, while others will be revealed later.
