CTS 2026 is completely FREE for existing players!

One question appears again and again in the community: Do players need to buy City Transport Simulator 2026 again? The short answer is simple: No.

Many players immediately compared the situation to other game series where a new version has to be purchased every year. That is why the developers made something very clear.

If you already own City Transport Simulator, you will receive the upgrade to City Transport Simulator 2026 completely free.

That includes all new features, improvements and gameplay changes.

You can think of it like a major system update on your phone. The software improves and evolves without needing to buy a new device.

However, new players who do not yet own the game will have two different editions available.

The Starter Edition will cost €39.99 and includes buses and trams such as the MAN Lion’s City A21, NL205, and the articulated MAN Lion’s City A23. Tram vehicles like ULF A1, ULF B1 and the R2.2b are also included.

The Expert Edition costs €59.99 and adds additional vehicles like the MAN New Lion’s City 12C, MAN New Lion’s City 18C and 19C, as well as trams like Flexity Vienna and the StadtRegioTram. It also includes the Tram & Bus Depot with the South-Route DLC and the Basel Style cosmetic pack.

Players who start with the Starter Edition can upgrade later using the Expert Upgrade Pack for €29.99.

But the most important message remains the same: existing players receive the full CTS 2026 upgrade completely free.

If you start with the Starter Edition, you can upgrade to the Expert Edition at any time later. An Expert Upgrade Pack is available for €29.99.

There is, however, one small exception: the new Citybus C2 will not be included in the free update. This vehicle will be released as a separate DLC for €19.99. The package expands the vehicle fleet with four variants of the well-known city bus: the Citybus C2 Solobus in two- and three-door versions, as well as the Citybus C2G articulated bus, which can be used in both three- and four-door versions. So, if you want to drive this modern bus, you’ll need to purchase the DLC separately—but all other new features in CTS 2026 remain completely free for existing players.
