2026: Could this be THE year of bus simulators?! So many bus simulators arriving at once!!
For fans of bus simulation games, this year could become particularly exciting. Multiple major projects are launching or evolving at the same time – which means one thing above all: competition in the genre.
And competition usually benefits players. When several studios work on similar simulation games, new ideas, better technology and innovation tend to follow. In simple terms: games get better because they challenge each other.
One of the first big moments will happen at the end of March. That’s when The Bus leaves Early Access on PC and launches on consoles for the first time. This suddenly opens the simulator to a much larger audience. At the same time, the update introduces new features such as a business management mode, allowing players to build their own bus company. Players will drive through cities like Berlin and Hamburg, which are already recreated in the game.
But The Bus is far from the only project.
The developers behind Bus Simulator 21 are working on Bus Bound, a new game set in the city of Emberville. Players will drive officially licensed buses through a lively city while helping transform it into a more pedestrian-friendly urban environment.
Another major upcoming title is Bus Simulator 27, planned for the second half of the year. The game will allow players to build their own transport company, operate licensed buses and explore the fictional region of Felicia Bay. It will also feature multiple modes such as Story, Career and Sandbox.
Interestingly, buses are even appearing outside traditional bus simulators.
In Euro Truck Simulator 2, developer SCS Software is working on a coach bus DLC, allowing players to drive long-distance buses. At the same time, the multiplayer project TruckersMP is also planning its own bus features.
So even a traditional truck simulator may soon include buses.
Looking at all these projects together paints a fascinating picture. A few years ago, the bus simulation genre had only a handful of major titles. Now several games are arriving almost at the same time.
This could be the moment when the genre truly begins to grow.
And because of that, 2026 might actually be remembered as the year of bus simulators.
Are you excited about any of the upcoming bus simulators? Which bus game are you most interested in? Will you play The Bus on console? Are you more interested in Bus Bound or Bus Simulator 27? Do you think competition between bus simulators is good?
