The ICE 3 again in Train Sim World?! Why this train is returning for the Nürnberg–Ingolstadt route?
The ICE 3 (Class 403) is far from an unfamiliar train in Train Sim World. In fact, it is one of the models that has already appeared multiple times in the game. With the upcoming Nürnberg – Ingolstadt route, it will appear once again.
That means the ICE 3 will effectively be represented for the third time in the game.
There is one small change. According to the developers, the train will receive some improvements and updates. These include minor adjustments and improvements to the existing model. However, the core remains the same: it is still the familiar Class 403 ICE 3.
And this is exactly where the community discussion begins.
Many players expected a new train to accompany a new high-speed route. One frequently mentioned candidate is the ICE 4 (Class 412), which today operates on many German long-distance routes.
Without new rolling stock, some players feel that buying a new route sometimes means driving trains they already know from other routes.
For some players, new rolling stock is often one of the main reasons to purchase a new route.
On the other hand, there is also a realistic explanation.
A train like the ICE 3 fits perfectly with a route such as Nürnberg – Ingolstadt, which is designed for speeds of up to 300 km/h. In real life, the ICE 3 is one of the trains that regularly operates on these high-speed lines.
So from a realism perspective, the choice makes sense – even if some players hoped for more variety in rolling stock.
In the end, the reaction from the community is mixed.
The route could be excellent in terms of quality and realism – but some players feel that the rolling stock choice lacks a sense of novelty.
Do you mind seeing the ICE 3 again in Train Sim World? Would you have preferred the ICE 4 instead? Is new rolling stock important for you when buying a route?
