Warburg is coming to the Westfalen Map for ETS2! Historic Hanseatic town will be part of the new Westfalen map!

Warburg is a mid-sized town in the district of Höxter in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia with around 23,000 inhabitants. It is also the largest town of the Warburger Börde, a fertile agricultural region with large open farmland areas.

This mix of historic town and rural surroundings makes Warburg particularly interesting for a map project like the Westfalen Map in ETS2.

The city was first mentioned in historical records around the year 1010, and during the Middle Ages it was part of the Westphalian Hanseatic League. Because of this, it officially carries the title Hanseatic City of Warburg today.

One of the most distinctive elements of Warburg is its architecture. The city features historic buildings, stone houses, timber-framed houses and parts of an old city wall with towers. Because much of this medieval structure still exists, Warburg is sometimes called the “Rothenburg of Westphalia.”

For a map in Euro Truck Simulator 2, cities like this are particularly interesting. They bring not only logistics and industry, but also regional architecture and authentic landscapes into the game.

Geographically, Warburg is located in the eastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, about 27 kilometers from the tri-state border of Hesse, Lower Saxony and NRW. Nearby larger cities include Paderborn, Kassel and Göttingen.

The Diemel River flows through the city area and strongly shapes the town. The historic old town lies in the Diemel valley, while the new town is located on higher ground above the river. This creates a unique town layout with different elevations.

Another striking landmark nearby is the Desenberg, an extinct volcanic hill rising about 150 meters above the surrounding landscape. At its summit are the ruins of Desenberg Castle, visible from far away.

Landmarks like this are important for map developers because they help make regions recognizable inside the game world.

With Warburg, the Westfalen Map gains not just another location, but also a region that represents East Westphalia-Lippe very well: farmland landscapes, historic towns and distinctive natural landmarks.

For ETS2 players, it will likely be exciting to drive through this region virtually with a truck.
