Frankenbahn gets much more realistic! DB BR 423 is coming to the route – with more than 400 extra services!

This update is not just about adding a new train. It is about improving how the whole route feels. According to Dovetail Games, Frankenbahn will be updated to include the DB BR 423 directly. That means the route will no longer require the Frankfurt S-Bahn add-on for those extra services. In simple terms: what used to be a workaround is now being built properly into the route itself.
That matters because the previous S-Bahn services may have worked mechanically, but they did not really feel like Stuttgart. It is a bit like putting the wrong city buses into a local transport simulator: technically usable, but not quite convincing. This is exactly what the update is trying to fix. The BR 423 is intended to better reflect Stuttgart S-Bahn conditions, making those services more realistic than before.
Then there is the second major change: more than 400 additional services. These extra runs will be included in both the original 2000 timetable and the 2018 DB BR 147 timetable. So the route is not only becoming more accurate, but also much busier. More trains usually mean a route feels more alive. Stations become more active, train encounters increase, and the timetable gains a stronger sense of movement.
In the end, this is the kind of update that may sound modest on paper but can have a much bigger effect once you are actually driving. Frankenbahn is not just getting a better-fitting train with the BR 423. It is also getting more density and more regional authenticity. And that is often the difference between a route that simply exists and one that truly feels believable.
