The Rhine-Niers Railway for TSW 6 is making great progress – what has already been completed!
Development of the Rhein-Niers railway is progressing steadily. A new roadmap update shows that large parts of the project are already implemented.
In real life, the Rhein-Niers railway connects Duisburg and Rheydt in North Rhine-Westphalia. The route is known for regional passenger services, commuter traffic and important industrial connections.
This mixture of passenger and freight traffic is intended to play a major role in the simulation as well.
One key highlight of the route is Duisport, the Port of Duisburg. As one of the largest inland ports in Europe, it generates heavy freight traffic and large industrial areas that require detailed modelling.
Much of the recent work focused on scenery and vegetation along the route.
According to the developer team, these elements between Duisburg and Rheydt are now almost completely finished. This includes landscapes, buildings, city environments and detailed vegetation along the tracks.
Currently, these areas are undergoing internal quality checks to ensure they meet the desired standard.
While scenery is largely completed, the team is now concentrating on industrial areas along the route.
The Duisport complex is one of the most complex areas to build due to its numerous rail yards, industrial buildings and logistical infrastructure.
There has also been progress regarding gameplay.
The developer confirmed that the timetable for passenger services is already fully implemented, including both player-driven trains and AI traffic.
Realistic freight traffic is planned to be added later as well.
Another interesting detail concerns a future locomotive: the BR 145, currently being developed by TSG.
Special services for this locomotive are planned for the Rhein-Niers railway, offering additional gameplay opportunities.

Have you been keeping an eye on the Rhein-Niers Railway for a while? Are you looking forward to this route in the simulator? Which trains would you most like to drive there? Do you find regional routes or high-speed routes more exciting?
