Hamburg S-Bahn for SubwaySim 2? A modder is working on the BR 474!

Modding has always been an important part of many simulation games. Community projects often introduce new vehicles, new maps and completely new experiences. A similar project is currently emerging around SubwaySim 2.

A modder has started working on bringing the Hamburg S-Bahn into the simulator. The plan is not limited to a single train. Instead, the project aims to introduce the BR 474 commuter train along with the S3 and S5 lines.

The focus right now is on the BR 474.3, the dual-system variant of the train. This version can operate both on the DC-powered S-Bahn network and on AC railway sections. One well-known example in real life is the system change behind Neugraben, which the modder would like to replicate in the simulator as well.

At the moment the project is still in its early stages. Models, systems and details are gradually being built step by step. However, an important milestone has already been reached: the first vehicle textures have been applied to the train model.

It is similar to looking at the construction phase of a building: the structure is there, but many details still need to be added.

Whether and when the mod will become playable is still unknown. The developer has emphasized that the project is still in a very early development stage.

Would you like to drive the Hamburg S-Bahn in SubwaySim 2? Do you know the BR 474 from real life? Have you ever traveled on the S3 or S5 in Hamburg?
