Why millions prefer driving virtual trucks instead of cars! The surprising reason truck simulators dominate driving simulations!

Poll question:
Why do you personally enjoy playing Euro Truck Simulator 2?

This question actually touches the core of the topic.

Truck simulators have become some of the most successful driving simulations in gaming. Titles like Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator attract huge communities and maintain active player bases for years. Car simulators such as City Car Driving exist, but they rarely achieve the same level of popularity.

One major reason is the clear gameplay objective. In a truck simulator, the goal is always simple and understandable: pick up cargo, drive it from point A to point B, and deliver it safely. Every trip becomes a small mission.

Car simulators often struggle with this structure. If the game only allows free driving in a city, players may eventually ask themselves: what is the actual goal? Without structured objectives, the experience can lose motivation over time.

Truck simulators also provide a unique sense of scale and responsibility. Driving a heavy truck with a trailer requires careful maneuvering, planning and patience. For many players, this creates a unique experience they may never have in real life.

Another factor is the relaxing gameplay loop. Unlike racing games, truck simulators are not about winning races or setting lap records. Instead, they offer calm, long-distance journeys through detailed landscapes.

Games like ETS2 and ATS combine open-world exploration with structured tasks. Players build transport companies, unlock new trucks and explore large regions while completing deliveries.

Car simulation faces a different challenge: player expectations are extremely diverse. Some want taxi gameplay, others emergency services, while others prefer pure driving experiences. Meeting all these expectations in one game is difficult.

Truck simulators, on the other hand, focus on one clear concept – and execute it extremely well.

What do you think? Why are truck simulators so popular? Do you prefer truck or car simulations? Do you find truck simulators relaxing? Do you prefer playing ETS2 or ATS? Have you tried car simulators too? What do you particularly like about truck simulators?
