Embarrassing translation error discovered in the finished simulator: How could this QA error slip through unnoticed in the release?
Before we dive deeper: this is not about mockery. It’s about processes. About quality assurance. And about the question of what such an error reveals about the release state of a game.
Before we begin, let’s clarify an important question: what exactly is QA?
QA stands for Quality Assurance. It is the process through which a game is systematically reviewed before release. This includes not only technical testing such as performance checks, crash detection, and bug fixing, but also text reviews, translations, menu structure, mission descriptions, logical consistency of gameplay systems, and overall coherence. In short: QA is meant to ensure that a game launches in a market-ready state.
In the stream by EinfachMory about the Park Ranger Simulator, one specific issue was clearly shown: a translation tool disclaimer remained visible in a mission description. Anyone who has worked with common online translation tools knows that longer texts sometimes include a note referencing the free version of the tool. This notice must be manually removed before publication. If it is not, it ends up in the final product. And that is apparently what happened in the Park Ranger Simulator.
What does this mean?
First: The text was likely translated externally or through automated tools — which in itself is not inherently problematic. Many studios use tools for initial localization drafts. The critical step, however, is post-editing.
Second: Such a disclaimer should have been caught during final quality control. QA does not only involve performance tests or bug tracking, but also text verification, localization checks, consistency reviews, and plausibility assessments. Especially in mission briefings — content players actively read — such errors are highly visible and appear unprofessional.
Third: The mistake may indicate time pressure during the release process. If obvious textual artifacts remain in the shipped version, it raises the question: Was the entire game thoroughly playtested? Or was testing focused primarily on functionality?
It is important to emphasize: a single translation mistake does not automatically make a game bad. However, a visible tool disclaimer referencing a free version is not an ordinary typo. It is a process error.
And this is where the real discussion begins.
When a game goes on sale, players expect a certain minimum standard — regardless of price. That includes clean localization. Especially in simulation games, where missions, menus, and instructions are often text-heavy, language plays a major role in credibility and immersion.
The video frames this issue as symptomatic — not as proof of intent, but as an indication of missing final review steps. And that distinction matters.
The bigger question therefore is:
Was this an isolated oversight — or a sign that the release process was not fully completed?
Do you say “it’s only 15€, whatever” — or do you still expect quality? Would you refund a game over something like this?
