Custom-built station for Walkemühle: A new suburban hub in our Region Südniedersachsen map!

Our Region Südniedersachsen map for OMSI 2 continues to expand. Today we focus on Walkemühle station, a suburban stop located about three kilometers east of Gronau’s main station. But what makes this location stand out?

Walkemühle is part of the city of Gronau and functions as a classic suburban station. Most trains pass through without stopping. Freight trains, regional express services, and occasionally even ICE or IC trains can be seen rushing by. Only a regional train stops here once per hour.

From a bus perspective, Walkemühle is well connected. Lines 11, 12, 13 and 61 serve the station, providing strong links to downtown Gronau.

A special highlight is the station building itself. We built a completely custom structure specifically for Walkemühle. It is not a reused asset but a unique architectural piece tailored to fit the district. The goal was to give the suburb its own visual identity.

Region Südniedersachsen remains under active development. There is currently no release date, as we work on the project in our spare time. We welcome feedback and questions at any time.
