These ETS 2 player numbers are surreal – how many are driving with you right now?

In the mornings, between 23,000 and 32,000 players are online at the same time in Euro Truck Simulator 2. That alone is a massive figure. Many modern titles do not even reach those numbers at launch. But in the evening, things become truly crazy. At peak time, around 62,000 other virtual drivers are on the road with you. 62,000. That is not a small niche community. That is an entire digital city of truck drivers.

These numbers are extreme. They are surreal. And they clearly show that we as simulation players are not some tiny fringe group – at least not when we are talking about ETS 2. Simulation is often labeled as slow, technical, or too specific.

It becomes even more impressive when we look at total ownership. According to Gamalytic, around 27.18 million people own Euro Truck Simulator 2. 27 million. That is not a small fan base. That is global scale. Of course, not all of them play simultaneously. But even a fraction of that audience means tens of thousands of active drivers every single day.

What does this prove? It proves that simulation is bigger than many think. It proves that calm, focused gameplay can reach millions without explosions or constant stress. And it proves that ETS 2 does not need flashy mechanics to succeed. It simply needs to be good and consistent – and it is.

So the next time you start a delivery in the evening, remember: tens of thousands of other drivers are doing the exact same thing at the same time. For a simulation game, that is truly surreal.

How many concurrent players did you guess before reading this? Do you currently play ETS 2 regularly? How many hours have you logged? Do you still consider simulation a niche genre?
