ETS2 Benelux Rework - New Impressions of the City of Groningen

As a reminder: the Benelux region has been part of the game world since the original release back in 2013. Over time, this section of the map has clearly started to show its age – both in terms of road layout and city design. This is exactly what the rework aims to address.

The updated version of Groningen highlights the direction the developers are taking. Road networks are being redesigned, intersections made more realistic, and the city itself is receiving more recognizable industrial and commercial areas. Access routes to companies and logistics hubs also appear far more modern compared to the current in-game version.

The goal of the rework is not only to visually modernize the region, but also to improve gameplay. This includes adjusted road layouts, new route options and an overall more believable urban environment. Players who frequently drive through the Netherlands may notice significant changes here in the future – hopefully adding more variety along the way.

There is still no confirmed release date for the Benelux rework, but the latest previews suggest that work on one of ETS2’s oldest map areas is actively moving forward.
