How Long Do Players Actually Stay in The Bus?

The Bus is designed as a long-term simulation project with continuous development. New features, improvements and expansions aim to shape its future. The community remains active and engaged. But how much time do players really invest?

The average playtime currently stands at 20.2 hours. This indicates that most players go beyond a brief test session. Twenty hours usually involve multiple routes, early career progress and a solid exploration of the game’s systems.

However, the median playtime is 6.3 hours, meaning half of all players stay below that threshold. Many users install the game, try it out for a few sessions and then decide whether to continue or wait for further updates. For an Early Access title, this pattern is not unusual.

This creates a distinct profile: A dedicated core group invests significantly more time, while a larger portion of the community interacts with the game more selectively. The difference between average and median highlights this imbalance.

Compared to OMSI, the contrast is notable. OMSI shows an average exceeding 260 hours, with a median around 25 hours. That reflects a deeply committed long-term player base. The Bus, by comparison, appears to be in a growth phase where many players are still evaluating its long-term potential.

As development continues and the full release approaches, these numbers may evolve.

Now it’s your turn: How many hours does Steam show for your copy of The Bus? Are you a regular driver or an occasional visitor? And do you plan to stay for the long haul?
