3 ETS2 Mods the Community Can Look Forward To – Classic Actros & Map Reworks in Development!

One project that is likely to get a lot of attention from the community is the Mercedes Actros (first generation) by Dotec. The original Actros is something of a legend in European long-haul transport and was first introduced back in the mid-1990s as Mercedes-Benz’s new flagship truck. With its distinctive design and modernized cabin concept at the time, it quickly became a common sight on European roads. While there is already a mod available that adds this truck to ETS2, it has clearly started to show its age over the years. A modern rework – or rather, a completely new implementation built to current quality standards – has been overdue for quite some time now.

Another major project currently in development is HungaRebuild – a complete rebuild of Hungary within ETS2. Hungary has been part of the game ever since the release of the Going East DLC back in 2013 and is therefore one of the oldest regions on the map. Naturally, this also means that large parts of the country no longer meet today’s visual and technical standards. Modder Kispál Marcell has taken it upon himself to rework these outdated areas from the ground up. Existing locations are being redesigned, while entirely new cities and regions are also being added along the way. Development progress is regularly showcased on the official SCS forum.

The third project on this list is the Westfalen Map. We have already covered this one in more detail in a separate article, but it’s still worth mentioning here. The map focuses on a new German region with an emphasis on rural landscapes, smaller towns and narrow country roads – a welcome change of pace compared to large metropolitan areas.

As always, projects like these show just how active the ETS2 modding community still is. Whether it's classic trucks that are finally getting a modern upgrade or long-awaited map reworks, there is clearly plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
