It’s official: Köln–Aachen Remastered is arriving very soon!!
After previous hints and development updates, it has been announced that the remastered route will be released on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at 10:00 UTC for all platforms in Train Sim World 6.
The Köln–Aachen high-speed route is a familiar part of the Train Sim World lineup, and the remaster focuses on bringing it up to modern technical standards. One of the key changes is the implementation of TOD4 lighting, affecting both the route and its stations. Dense urban areas such as Cologne Central Station now feature updated night lighting, while landmark buildings in Aachen are illuminated as well.
Beyond lighting, several infrastructure elements have been updated. The overhead line equipment has been reworked with new rendering and materials, track descriptors have been adjusted, and visual assets such as signals, display boards and ballast have been revised. Grass and vegetation textures have also been replaced, and older bridge models have been swapped for newer versions.
Several trains on the route received updates as part of the remaster. The BR 442 (Talent 2) features updated displays, lighting and passenger information systems compatible with TOD4, along with added GSM-R textures in the cab. The BR 406 (ICE 3M) now includes improved screen visuals, additional workshop and switching pages, and selectable AFB functionality. The BR 423 (Cologne S-Bahn) has also been adjusted to match the new lighting system.
The remaster builds on the timetable overhaul that was released previously, keeping the operational structure familiar while improving the technical presentation. For players, this means the same route experience with updated visuals and systems aligned with current Train Sim World standards.
The release will be available simultaneously on PC and consoles. From Thursday morning onward, Köln–Aachen Remastered can be downloaded and played, with an official feedback thread opening shortly after release.
