Multiplayer on console has been discussed internally. It’s not an ignored topic. The main obstacle lies in implementation. Unlike on PC, console multiplayer would require dedicated servers specifically built and maintained for console platforms. This alone introduces significant additional effort.
Dedicated servers mean ongoing costs, constant maintenance, monitoring, support, and compliance with platform-specific rules set by Sony and Microsoft. This is not a one-time investment but a long-term commitment that requires stable resources and manpower.
On top of that, console multiplayer comes with strict certification processes. Every update, patch, or change to the multiplayer system would need to go through additional approval steps. This slows development and adds complexity that doesn’t exist to the same degree on PC.
Does this mean console multiplayer will never happen? Not necessarily. But it is also not planned at this time. The current situation is clear: multiplayer on console is not feasible right now due to the required infrastructure and workload. Any future change would depend on the long-term success of the console versions and available resources.
For console players, this may not be the answer they hoped for. At the same time, it avoids unrealistic promises. Instead of delivering an unstable multiplayer experience, the focus remains on a solid singleplayer experience on console.
